May soon realized that she has Jessie's Wurmple and that Jessie has hers. While with Team Rocket, Wurmple caused trouble for them by eating what little food they had, proving to be far more gluttonous than Jessie's Wurmple. Eventually, Wurmple was handed back to May in exchange for Jessie's Wurmple. In A Corphish Out of Water , May and Jessie once again pitted their two Wurmple against each other in battle, where they simultaneously evolved into Silcoon and Cascoon , respectively.

In Seeing is Believing! Later on, Cascoon evolved as well and the two once again fought, with Beautifly winning. In Now That's Flower Power! Its routine had some flaws that would not look good in a Contest, as Drew pointed out. In Win, Lose or Drew! Beautifly's performance impressed the judges enough to get May past the Appeals Round. Unfortunately, their success was short-lived when Beautifly was defeated by Drew's Roselia in the first match of the Battle Round.

Later, in Come What May! James , using Dustox, eventually defeated Beautifly, knocking May out of the competition. In Hi Ho Silver Wind! The duo showed off stunning combinations, such as with Silver Wind and Razor Leaf , and won the match. Before heading off to the Kanto region , May stopped by Petalburg City and left her Beautifly under the care of her mother Caroline. In The Unbeatable Lightness of Seeing! Along with Combusken , it battled Drew's Roselia and Butterfree where they eventually lost.

Brock even said that that was a smart combination. However, that didn't work as Zoey's Glameow countered with Iron Tail , making the combination go to the other side. Dustox and Seviper were then both easily defeated by Zoey's Glameow. In Team Shocker! During the Performance Stage , she used Whirlwind to lift Jessie off the ground, leaving the crowd astounded.

She kept Jessie floating for a while and then used Psybeam to create a thick green smoke which covered the entire stage. When the smoke was cleared, it revealed Jessie and Dustox smiling and posing before the audience. The performance was well-received by the panel of judges and, when the results were announced, Jessie appeared among the Coordinators advancing to the Battle Stage.

There, Dustox was able to defeat her first two opponents to reach the finals, where she went up against Kenny's Prinplup.

She managed to use Prinplup's techniques against him to win the battle, earning Jessie her first Contest Ribbon. Ever since, Dustox has been wearing Jessie's hair-ribbons that she wore in that Contest.

Jessie tearfully decided that Dustox had to go with the others, despite everyone's protests, but, since Dustox was loyal, she didn't want to. Dustox then went to live with other Dustox and start a family, giving Jessie the hope of finding her own soulmate. In Our Cup Runneth Over! In Jumping Rocket Ship! As a Wurmple, she was very sedate and well-behaved, unlike May's Wurmple , who was gluttonous and a bit disobedient.

When she evolved, she stayed well-behaved and was very loyal to Jessie. May is the unlucky candidate, but instead of Team Rocket pulling her down, Ash, Max, Brock, and May pull them up and out of the water. A fight between the girls ensues over which one is better.

Max concludes that the Wurmples are about the same. Later, May realizes what happened when her Wurmple won't go back into its ball. Ash's Taillow helps the gang find Team Rocket to make the trade. The episode ends with May happily feeding her Wurmple. The trio soon locates Ash and Pikachu sleeping on a hallway bench, and Ash explains that he simply wanted to be closer to Treecko and Taillow while they recover.

Max approaches the others and informs them that Steven Stone , the son of Mr. Stone , is in Granite Cave doing research and trying to find some rare stones.

Ash and his friends decide to meet him there. On the way to Granite Cave, they come across James , disguised as an old man. He convinces them to fish at a nearby fishing spot, and lends them some rods. As the group starts fishing, Ash lets Treecko out to enjoy the sunshine. Max tries to instruct his older sister how to fish, but May retorts that she is the older one. After fishing for a moment, May lands an Octillery.

May sends out her Wurmple and commands it to use String Shot , but Octillery dodges. Wurmple mistakenly ensnares Max with the attack instead.

Octillery escapes back into the sea, taking the time to headbutts Max on the way. Pikachu tries to use a Thunderbolt , but Corphish quickly attacks with Crabhammer before returning to the water. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is back inside their Magikarp submarine. Jessie isn't too thrilled that the random fishing spot is helping the twerps land several catches.

May soon feels something on her line, and the other lend their strengths. The combined effort causes Team Rocket's pedals to break allowing the group to pull the sub to the surface. Team Rocket exits their submarine while reciting their motto , before trying to capture Pikachu in a shock-proof net.
