Why does my lifted truck squeak

Jun 30, Auto Repair Diagnosis. The suspension system absorbs the shocks and vibrations that are inflicted on the wheels — by bumps, humps, potholes and general deficiencies in the road, your suspension helps absorbs all of these uncomfortable ride along issues and was designed to give you safe and pleasant ride — without passing any further reverberations onto the frame of the car and in turn, its passengers. The most common reason as to why your suspension is squeaking is due to a lack of lubrication.

Automotive Tips Main Causes of Vehicle Squeaking and Ways to Eliminate Them Not too long ago we published a couple of articles on Noises that Might Mean Trouble for your vehicle that addressed squeaking brakes and how to know when you need brake service.

Eliminate Squeaks A few of facts for you to keep in mind when looking to eliminate suspension squeaks. Many newer cars and trucks have sealed suspension joints that are considered to be lubed for life. This cost saving measure by manufacturers makes it impossible to add lubrication so when the original lubrication degrades or finds a way to leak out, you may be looking at a part replacement as the only option.

You need the right lube or grease to ensure that the squeaking is eliminated. You must be patient to zero in on it. If you have grease fittings, you can simply start from there and grease the steering links, sway bar end-links, and ball joints. This should solve the problem. If it does not, please check the coil springs and spring cubs. The chances are that greasing them is not enough. You will have to replace them. While you are at it, please check the power steering fluid as well. What UCAs did you use??

Brunes , Sep 18, Light racing UCAs I believe. I wasnt doing any serious offroading like wheeling, I just was easing through the woods checking a fence line.

But the noises did start after I first got back from driving through woods with new lift. What can be done here? Just dirt and such is all.. Do NOT use wd40 as it dries out bushings. Rollinn , Sep 18, Thats not going to happen. I have no idea what lithium grease is, so the odds that I will use it when I wash my truck is slim to none. Even if I did have lithium grease, why should I have to grease a part every weeks to keep it from chirpping?

Are these really UCAs that sensitive? All I did was do some very light off roading. If I would have known that they are that high maintainence I would have never got them. All the experts on here highly recommneded UCAs with a lift, but not once did I read, "oh by the way you have to grease them up with lithium every month. Dude you just changed all of your suspension components, you need to grease it.

Otherwise live with the squeaking. Its really not that hard to grease these areas. Canadianboy , Sep 18, Firebird likes this. It was just greased two weeks ago, and two weeks before that.
