Why does ike look different

The characters can tell the difference, as in the episode Christmas in Canada where Kyle's dad replies "Yeah, I can tell" or something very similar when Ike's parents come to claim him and say that they are Canadian. So, what's the deal with the flapping heads and beady eyes? Go look in the mirror. Matt : Yeh. Everything started because Terrance and Phillip were characters first, and they weren't necessarily Canadian.

And were later on we were like, "They're Canadian. Trey : Because, t-Terrance and Phillip was our answer to- When the show first came out, and everyone was saying, "South Park is horrible animation, and is nothing but fart jokes. Here's horrible animation and nothing but fart jokes," right? And that's what Terrance and Phillip was, it was our answer to that. And then it sort of grew and and, and, at that time we thought Terrance and Phillip were probably like, British or something, and then they just became Canadian out of necessity.

Ike's voice actor or actress has changed frequently, as to assure he always sounds like a young child. This voice was usually been provided by the child of a crew member of the show, but there are challenges to using a child voice. Some parents don't allow their child to swear, even for South Park, so placeholder words are used, and then censored to sound like swear words, such as using "shoe" to sound like "shit" once 'bleeped'.

As a result, some sequences where Ike or other young children swear remain censored even in 'uncensored' audio tracks. During the production of " Taming Strange ", Ike was given a more 'mature' voice in order to sound like a teenager, supplied by Matt Stone, and he and Trey considered keeping it, but decided the baby voice always got the best laughs. As of Season Twenty , Ike's voice is being provided by Betty Boogie Parker, Trey's real-life daughter, who has no problem swearing for her daddy.

Ike is at times very aware of things going on around him, from trying to reconcile with his brother to auditioning for Eric Cartman 's boy band and flipping Cartman off when he doesn't make the cut. Ike was also aware of how unpopular he initially was with his kindergarten classmates, who were jealous of the fact that he was admitted at only age three.

However, he rallied enough support to force a tie in the election for class president, finally winning when his opponent who was fed up with all the negotiations and meddling by his aunt Rosie O'Donnell conceded defeat.

In the episode " Fatbeard " Ike joins Cartman's pirate crew and goes to Somalia with him because he grew tired of his home life. However, when he and Butters hear the story of a real Somalian pirate, who tells them they shouldn't want to be a pirate and that they should be happy with their lives in America, he wants to go home again.

This is one of the first episodes where Ike's dialogue is actively coherent to the audience throughout the entire episode as opposed to nonsensical comments. Kyle is known to punt Ike like a football after saying, "Kick the baby! Because he's a genius, Ike was accepted into kindergarten at the age of 3. There, Mr. Garrison nominates him for class president, Ike's opponent being Filmore.

In the episode " Canada on Strike ", Ike is shown standing up for Canada and holding a sign with the words "Honk if you support Canada".

Ike has a more grown-up dialogue in " Dead Celebrities ", not speaking with his normal childlike voice. Also in the episode " About Last Night In " Royal Pudding ", Ike dresses up as in a school play but is crying over the kidnapping of the Princess of Canada.
